In a strategic move, Atishi has been appointed as the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs. Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal attended the pivotal meeting where Atishi, an MLA from the Kalkaji constituency, was unanimously chosen as the leader of the House.
During a press conference, Gopal Rai, AAP's Delhi unit convenor, confirmed Atishi's appointment as proposed by Sanjeev Jha, MLA from Burari. Atishi expressed her gratitude to party leader Kejriwal and promised to hold the BJP accountable, particularly for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pledge to deliver Rs 2,500 to Delhi's women by March 8.
The new Delhi Assembly session is set to begin on February 24, where the ruling BJP plans to present CAG reports criticizing the previous AAP government. Kejriwal has assured that AAP will constructively oppose in the assembly for the people of Delhi.
