Germany's Green Party is set to draft an independent proposal on security and defense legislation, co-leader Felix Banaszak announced Monday. This move comes after the party chose to withhold backing from the conservatives and SPD over their high state borrowing plans.
Banaszak criticized the conservative bloc, headed by Friedrich Merz, labeling their efforts to gain Green support as 'blackmail.' Despite these strong words, Banaszak emphasized the importance of working toward a unified approach between the involved parties.
Merz is now under pressure to initiate productive dialogues with other political groups, aiming for a mutually agreeable resolution in the evolving security and defense discussions.
