Historic Agreement: SDF to Integrate with Syria's State Institutions

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish-led and U.S.-backed coalition controlling northeast Syria, has reached a landmark agreement to integrate into Syria's new state structures. Announced by the Syrian presidency, this deal marks a significant shift in the region's dynamics.

The agreement was officially signed by interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa and SDF commander Mazloum Abdi. It stipulates a cessation of hostilities and sees the integration of all civilian and military institutions into the state. The government will assume control over borders, airports, and energy resources.

The SDF committed to supporting government efforts against remnants of the former regime and any security threats. While Turkey views SDF as a terrorist group, the new administration in Damascus is encouraging their absorption into state security forces, though disagreements over integration methods have arisen.
