In response to the incident, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma offered an apology on behalf of his party colleague, cautioning Kurmi to maintain decorum in the future. The session, marked by high tensions, began with Congress MLAs donning black outfits in protest and staging a sit-in to block access to key chambers.
The Assembly also saw AIUDF MLAs entering with bamboo fences, claiming self-protection. The Chief Minister argued against police actions and urged resolution within the House to prevent such incidents. As a challenge to party unity, BJP president Dilip Saikia asked Kurmi for a public apology. The call for action highlights ongoing tensions between the ruling and opposition parties, amid accusations and counterclaims.
