In a crucial move towards finalizing Nepal's peace process, top leaders from three major political parties convened to form a selection committee. This committee is tasked with recommending chiefs for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Transitional Justice Commission.
The decision emerged from a high-level meeting at the Prime Minister's Office in Singhdurbar, attended by Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba, and CPN-Maoist Centre leader Pushpakamal Dahal 'Prachanda', among others.
The formation of the committee marks a significant step in completing the ongoing peace process, which originated from the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed in 2006. The leaders focused on resolving outstanding issues to conclude the decade-long Maoist insurgency peace process.
