The United Kingdom has announced its readiness to assist both India and Pakistan in initiating dialogue and reducing heightened tensions, subsequent to India's missile strikes on terror targets in Pakistan as part of Operation Sindoor.
Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds described the situation in Jammu and Kashmir as massively concerning, informing the BBC of the collaboration between UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy and both nations. Reynolds affirmed the UK's role as a friend and partner to India and Pakistan, emphasizing their commitment to regional stability through dialogue and de-escalation.
The Foreign, Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) updated its travel advisory regarding the heightened military activity in the region. Various UK officials, including Scotland's First Minister John Swinney and Labour MP Stella Creasy, echoed the call for calm. Former Conservative Party Foreign Office minister Lord Tariq Ahmad highlighted the grave risk of war between the nuclear-armed neighbors and called for urgent international intervention.
