In an effort to mitigate rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Saudi Arabia's deputy foreign minister, Adel al-Jubeir, made an unannounced visit to New Delhi on Thursday. The high-profile visit aimed to deliver a message of mediation from the Saudi leadership.
Al-Jubeir engaged with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, where discussions centered around the escalation following India's military response to terrorist threats in Pakistan's territory, including strikes on key sites occupied by terror groups.
This diplomatic maneuver follows closely on the heels of Iranian foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi's visit to India for a pre-arranged meeting, further affirming India's active diplomatic exchanges amid ongoing regional tensions.
