In a strategic move ahead of the local body elections in Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray, chief of Shiv Sena (UBT), has convened a meeting with the party's district leaders. The focus was on ramping up preparations for the electoral battle slated for later this year.

The local polls encompass 29 municipal corporations, 32 zilla parishads, 336 panchayat samitis, and 248 municipal councils. Party leaders were instructed to monitor the electoral roll revisions and the ward delimitation process, according to senior leader Anil Parab.

While Uddhav Thackeray emphasized going solo in the elections, he also advised district leaders to consider local alliances with like-minded groups. Concurrently, discussions are ongoing within the Maha Vikas Aghadi—comprising NCP (SP), Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT), and Congress—to contest the polls collectively.
