The recent address by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) has been termed 'controversial' by Rajesh Thakur, a Jharkhand Congress leader, who argues that the CEC spoke on 'irrelevant things' without delivering concrete information. Thakur's comments highlight ongoing discontent amid opposition parties over election transparency and the authority's perceived impartiality.

Thakur scrutinized the CEC's comments on privacy in voting, questioning the consistency of televised voting practices. He pointed out inconsistencies where votes cast by prominent leaders are openly broadcast, yet concerns arise regarding privacy if similar coverage involves less notable figures.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) MP V Sivadasan echoed criticisms, flagging the lack of substantive responses from the Election Commission during interactions and voicing concerns about the appointment practices, largely influenced by the Prime Minister and his associates, which allegedly impact the impartiality of the institution.

Amidst critiques, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar emphasized the transparent efforts in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar. Kumar assured a cooperative approach, with extensive voter engagement and adherence to openness, asserting faith in bringing about an inclusive electoral preparation process.
