Senior DMK leader TKS Elangovan has voiced his disapproval of the BJP's decision to nominate Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan for the vice president role, asserting it won't positively impact Tamil Nadu. Elangovan, a former Rajya Sabha MP, questioned the necessity of DMK backing Radhakrishnan's bid, highlighting the party's commitment to the INDIA bloc, of which it is a prominent member.

He emphasized that Radhakrishnan's nomination serves as a mere token gesture by the BJP, especially in the context of the approaching Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, scheduled for March-April 2026. According to Elangovan, this move is an attempt by the ruling party to claim they are favoring the Tamil populace.

Elangovan pointed out that the tenure for the new vice president would be limited to approximately two years, as it involves completing the term of Jagdeep Dhankar, the outgoing vice president.
