South Showdown: The Battle for Vice Presidency

Amid a politically charged atmosphere, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have reached out to Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray to garner support for the NDA's vice-presidential nominee, C P Radhakrishnan. This was confirmed by party leader Sanjay Raut.

The National Democratic Alliance has strategically positioned Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan as their candidate, while the opposition's INDIA bloc endorses former Supreme Court judge B Sudarshan Reddy. Remarkably, this sets the stage for a notable South versus South rivalry.

The vice-presidential elections are slated for September 9, with an electoral college of 781 members where a majority of 391 is essential for victory. Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members, including nominated members of the Upper House, will participate in this crucial voting process.
