The Election Commission announced the elections after a four-year gap, with the seats vacant since February 2021. On Saturday, BJP's national general secretary Tarun Chugh will oversee discussions on probable candidates and strategic plans.

Key topics will also include the political situation in Jammu and Kashmir and forthcoming bypolls. Candidate nominations close on October 13, while vote counting is scheduled for October 24, following the end of polling.
