Critics within the Congress party accused Modi of silently acquiescing to Trump's declarations, while the Prime Minister only confirmed that the phone call involved exchanging Diwali greetings. On social media platform X, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh stated, 'What Modi conceals, Trump reveals,' pointing to perceived lapses in India's foreign policy communication.

While President Trump emphasized India's commitment to cut Russian oil imports, the Ministry of External Affairs disputed having any such conversation. The opposition accused Modi of succumbing to American pressures, insinuating a faltering foreign policy under the strain of economic and diplomatic tariffs imposed on India.
