Heated Debate in J-K Assembly Over Detained AAP MLA

The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has delayed a decision regarding Aam Aadmi Party MLA Mehraj Malik, who is seeking permission to participate in the ongoing assembly session, until October 30. Malik's application was filed amidst intense debate due to his detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in September.

The court's decision comes as Malik, currently held in Kathua jail, requested an urgent hearing through his lawyers. The assembly session in question began on October 23 and is set to conclude on October 31, raising the stakes for a timely resolution.

Inside the assembly, Malik's detention prompted heated exchanges. While some members demanded a discussion on his situation, others argued legal procedures must run their course. The main issue of Malik's detention under the PSA is set for a court hearing on November 7.
