The apex court refused to issue an interim order against the dissolution but asked the defendants, including the Office of the President, to submit a written explanation within a week regarding why such an order shouldn't be issued.

After the Gen Z movement led to the resignation of then Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, President Ramchandra Paudel appointed former chief justice Sushila Karki as interim prime minister and announced a general election for March 5, 2026. Legal experts argue that these actions violate the constitution.
