In a striking accusation, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has charged both the BJP government and the Election Commission with orchestrating a plan to delete more than 50,000 voter names in regions where the INDIA bloc showed strength in previous elections.
During a press conference on his father's birth anniversary, Yadav highlighted these claims amid the ongoing revision of electoral rolls in 12 states. He expressed concerns that these deletions were a strategic effort following BJP's dwindling presence in certain areas, emphasizing the need for unbiased electoral oversight.
He further urged his party to meticulously monitor voter lists and report discrepancies, accentuating that Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal are primary targets post-2024 elections. Yadav concluded with a call to extend the electoral roll revision period to ensure fairness and transparency.
