The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced an upcoming revelation of Jawaharlal Nehru's legacy, as it responds to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's allegations. Gandhi accused the ruling party of aiming to vilify India's first Prime Minister, a charge the BJP has vigorously denied.
BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra stated that Congress has sought to overshadow the contributions of other historical figures in favor of Nehru's. Patra pointed to an FIR against the Gandhi family concerning the National Herald case, implying their actions undermine Nehru's legacy.
The Lok Sabha has scheduled a critical debate on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to lead the discussion. As tensions rise, the BJP insists it's acknowledging history's contributors rather than rewriting it, challenging criticism from Congress ranks.
