In the Maharashtra assembly, a heated exchange unfolded between Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Congress leader Nana Patole over the scheduled length of the Winter session, which began on Monday in Nagpur.
Patole raised concerns about the session's short duration, arguing it should be extended to two weeks according to the Nagpur pact. He questioned why the government seemed in a rush to present supplementary demands and bills on the session's opening day, suggesting this limited thorough debate.
Defending the decision, Fadnavis reminded Patole of shorter sessions during his speakership in the previous government. He contended that the current session length aligns with procedural norms, considering potential local elections, and pledged appropriately timed sessions in the future.
