Trump Lashes Out at New CBS Owners Amid Media Giants Merger
Donald Trump criticized CBS's new owners after a '60 Minutes' interview with Marjorie Taylor Greene. This coincided with Paramount Skydance's $108 billion bid for Warner Bros. Discovery. Trump demanded an apology and accused the show of past biased reporting, as Paramount seeks diverse media representation.
On Monday, former U.S. President Donald Trump launched a scathing critique against the new proprietors of CBS following a contentious interview concluded with his former ally, Marjorie Taylor Greene, on '60 Minutes.' The criticism emerged on the heels of CBS's parent company, Paramount Skydance, initiating a hostile takeover bid for Warner Bros. Discovery.
Trump took to Truth Social, condemning the new 60 Minutes ownership, stating, "My real problem with the show, however, wasn't the low IQ traitor; it was that the new ownership of 60 Minutes, Paramount, would allow a show like this to air. THEY ARE NO BETTER THAN THE OLD OWNERSHIP." His grievances were compounded by allegations of "incorrect and libelous" statements regarding a laptop belonging to Hunter Biden.
Amid Trump's online tirade, Paramount Skydance has tabled an astounding $108 billion offer for Warner Bros. Discovery with financial backing from Affinity Partners, managed by Jared Kushner. Skydance Media, led by David Ellison and linked to Trump supporter Larry Ellison, recently took control of Paramount, emphasizing a shift towards varied ideological representation in CBS's content.
