During a debate on election reforms in the Lok Sabha, BJP's Sanjay Jaiswal called for the opposition to reflect on their strategies instead of questioning electronic voting machines and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Jaiswal noted that, contrary to opposition claims, the BJP may not benefit most from simultaneous polls, but supports such reforms to prioritize the nation's interests. He criticized Congress leaders for their alleged absence during campaigns, branded as 'tourism', and dismissed past allegations of 'vote theft', explaining that Bihar's revision process ensured no eligible voter was left behind.
Jaiswal also referenced historical claims of voting inconsistencies, citing incidents like the deferral of polls following Rajiv Gandhi's assassination and the imposition of Emergency in 1975 as examples of past electoral irregularities.
