The Election Commission (EC) has unveiled a strategic initiative to ensure the integrity of upcoming draft electoral rolls across 12 states and Union territories. Political parties will receive comprehensive lists identifying absent, shifted, and deceased voters as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program currently in progress.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the EC informed that booth-level agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties will soon be privy to these lists ahead of the draft publication scheduled for December 16. This move aims to rectify inaccuracies by pinpointing voters with whom booth-level officers (BLOs) have failed to establish contact, despite making three attempts.
This initiative mirrors protocols previously employed during the Bihar SIR—an approach expected to streamline the revision process and bolster voter list accuracy in the nine states and three Union territories involved.
