Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has promised a significant boost in financial aid for poor women in Uttar Pradesh. Speaking at a private news event, Yadav pledged Rs 40,000 annually should his party win the 2027 elections, a significant increase from previous efforts.
In his plans, Yadav cited the Samajwadi Pension scheme, where mothers and sisters received Rs 500 per month, as a framework. He assured voters that the funds for the ambitious initiative would come from recovering debts owed by prominent industrialists.
This announcement follows the INDIA bloc's setback in the Bihar elections, where the NDA's similar financial scheme played a role in its victory by garnering women's voter support.
