On Tuesday, the Congress-led UDF opposition disrupted Assembly proceedings, alleging interference by the Chief Minister's office in the Special Investigation Team's probe into the Sabarimala gold loss cases. Leader of Opposition, V D Satheesan, informed Speaker A N Shamseer of the UDF's decision to halt cooperation with the House.
Tensions escalated during the Assembly's question hour as Congress MLA Anwar Sadath attempted to climb onto the Speaker's dais, causing a temporary suspension of proceedings. Upon resumption, state Law Minister P Rajeev accused the opposition of hindering justice by introducing prime accused Unnikrishnan Potty into the case.
The confrontation intensified with opposition MLAs holding banners accusing the CPI(M) of shielding the accused, while ruling front legislators mocked the protest. Despite the disorder, the question hour proceeded amid UDF's accusations of government interference and pressure from the Chief Minister's office.
