Assam Congress Chief Criticizes BJP Switchovers

Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi has expressed strong criticism for fellow politicians who have switched allegiance to the ruling BJP, claiming they have become politically insignificant. Gogoi highlighted the cases of Sarbananda Sonowal and others as examples of those who lost prominence.

Addressing reporters, Gogoi specifically pointed out Bhupen Kumar Borah, the former state Congress chief, who is speculated to join the BJP soon. Gogoi predicts Borah will meet the same fate as others who joined the saffron brigade, reiterating that the real political battle lies between the 'real Congress' and the 'old Congress' leaders now in BJP.

Additionally, Gogoi condemned the statements made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who referred to Borah as the 'last Hindu leader' in Congress. Gogoi dubbed the chief minister as 'Assam's Jinnah' for granting 'Hindu certificates' and underscored Congress's resilience, equating it to an ocean, stressing that one individual's departure wouldn't affect the party's poll prospects.
