Mass Rally Sparks Controversy for CPI(M)

A case has been registered against around 500 CPI(M) workers for organizing a rally against former leader G Sudhakaran, who resigned from the party. The rally, held on March 14, allegedly obstructed traffic. Sudhakaran plans to contest the upcoming Assembly polls as an independent candidate.

A legal case has been initiated against approximately 500 members of the ruling CPI(M) following a large rally aimed at former leader G Sudhakaran. The protest, organized on March 14, allegedly disrupted traffic, leading to a case filed by Punnapra police.

The procession took place from Paravur Assembly junction along the national highway, culminating in a public meeting from 5.30 pm to 7 pm. The rally reportedly obstructed vehicular movement and inconvenienced the public, according to police.

The demonstrations were in opposition to Sudhakaran, who left the CPI(M) over leadership disagreements and is now preparing to run in the Assembly elections as an independent. Sudhakaran asserted that the party failed to drum up significant support against him.
