In a statement Thursday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent conveyed that meetings between lawmakers and Kevin Warsh, the nominee for Federal Reserve chair, have been fruitful.
However, the nomination faces a significant hurdle as a senior Republican senator has promised to block the process until a federal investigation into current Fed Chair Jerome Powell by prosecutor Jeanine Pirro is resolved.
Bessent refrained from commenting on the investigation but maintained that discussions on Capitol Hill are proceeding positively and a hearing is expected, although the vote is currently in limbo.
