Collective Withdrawal: Chikhlod's Electoral Standoff
In an unprecedented move in Gujarat's electoral scene, all four candidates for Chikhlod's taluka seat withdrew their nominations in protest. This action highlights deep-rooted discontent within the Chikhlod community over their village's inclusion in the newly formed Fagvel taluka — a decision they argue undermines their socio-economic ties to Kapadvanj.

In a surprising turn of events in Gujarat's electoral landscape, the election for the Chikhlod seat under Fagvel Taluka Panchayat in Kheda district has been postponed. This decision follows the voluntary withdrawal of all candidates, leaving no contenders to run in the local polls slated for April 26.
Among the withdrawn candidates are Bhavnaben Parmar from the BJP, Sonalben Parmar from Congress, and two Independents. Their withdrawal underscores a larger community movement protesting the inclusion of Chikhlod village in Fagvel taluka—recently formed by the state government.
The protest stems from the residents' desire to remain part of Kapadvanj taluka, citing better access to essential services. A symbolic hunger strike earlier this year further emphasized the community's stance. Local political figures suggest the withdrawals were aligned with the village's collective protest, proving the strength of community-driven action over political ambitions.
