In a closely watched contest, BJP's Ajay Ray has gained a lead over TMC's Udayan Guha by 5,575 votes after the third round of counting in Dinhata, according to the latest data from the Election Commission.
Ray, a prominent figure within the Bharatiya Janata Party, has so far amassed 19,476 votes, showing a significant push in the Dinhata constituency located in Cooch Behar district.
On the other hand, Udayan Guha, who serves as the North Bengal Development Minister and is the sitting candidate, has drawn 13,901 votes. The electoral battle in North Bengal's notably competitive region is heating up as the count progresses.
