The BJP has launched a fresh attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of employing “double standards” concerning the SIR process. This comes as a video emerged of Kerala Congress MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan praising the system for eliminating fake voters, contradicting Gandhi's criticism.
In a social media post, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla claimed that Congress was reveling in the success of SIR in Kerala, where it allegedly helped them secure a victory. However, he criticized Gandhi for blaming the same process for electoral setbacks in West Bengal, suggesting it was a tactical excuse.
According to Poonawalla, Gandhi’s stance on SIR exemplifies “electoral opportunism,” as the Congress leader attempts to justify defeats by pinning blame on the voting system. He further argued that Gandhi’s allegations lacked judicial backing, as similar claims faltered in Bihar's legal system.
