US President Donald Trump touched down in Beijing on Wednesday, gearing up for much-anticipated discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The talks are set to cover critical topics including the Iran war, trade issues, and US arms sales to Taiwan.
Although the formal summit activities are planned for Thursday, the Chinese government pulled out all stops to welcome Trump with grand ceremonies. Air Force One's landing in the Chinese capital was marked by elaborate pageantry.
The welcoming delegation included Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and key diplomats from both nations. With 300 Chinese youth, a military honor guard, and a band, the welcome is set to pave the way for Thursday's bilateral talks and official banquet.
