Amid growing tensions within the INDIA bloc, DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Assembly's Leader of Opposition, Udhayanidhi Stalin, launched a severe critique against Congress, accusing it of 'betraying' the DMK. The accusation stems from Congress's decision to support Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) after the state assembly elections, a move Stalin claims the DMK won't soon forget.
Addressing constituents in the Chepauk-Triplicane area, Udhayanidhi Stalin accused Congress of failing to maintain communication with the DMK leadership, noting that Congress had supported TVK post-elections, sparking significant discontent within DMK ranks. He highlighted that unlike Congress, other alliance partners kept the DMK informed on pivotal matters.
The strife has prompted the DMK to skip the planned INDIA bloc meeting on June 8 in New Delhi, citing hurt sentiments among its members. Despite these strains, DMK has expressed its commitment to addressing national welfare issues alongside other opposition parties, whilst its relations with Congress remain precarious.
