In a dramatic political maneuver, Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, has chosen to forgo his security cover. This decision came shortly after former Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi took similar actions, following the Bihar government's move to withdraw their Z-plus security detail and issue a notice to vacate their official residence at 10 Circular Road, Patna, now reassigned to Bihar Minister Nand Kishore Ram.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Shakti Yadav, speaking to ANI, accused the state government of intentionally targeting the Yadav family as part of a political vendetta. He criticized the selective reduction of security for senior RJD leaders while questioning the continued security provisions for several BJP and NDA figures. Asserting Tejashwi’s self-confidence, Shakti Yadav emphasized that the Leader of Opposition would now move about without any security entourage.
The security controversy is intertwined with the eviction dispute over the historic 10 Circular Road bungalow, a symbolic stronghold for the RJD. While the state had offered alternative accommodation, Rabri Devi reportedly resisted the relocation. This escalating row reflects deeper political currents and tensions under the Nitish Kumar administration, sparking heated debates about the fairness and intent behind the security decisions.
