Tragic Lightning Strikes Claim Lives in Odisha's Ganjam District

Four individuals were killed by lightning strikes in separate incidents in Odisha's Ganjam district. The victims, including Sanyashi Sahu, Lambodar Panigrahy, Sanjay Gouda, and Dugun Pradhan, were struck during a thunderstorm on Sunday. Attempts to save them were unsuccessful, with doctors declaring them dead upon arrival at hospitals.

In a tragic turn of events, four individuals lost their lives to lightning strikes across different locations in Odisha's Ganjam district, according to police reports on Monday.

The victims, Sanyashi Sahu, Lambodar Panigrahy, and Sanjay Gouda from Ganjam district, and Dugun Pradhan from Khurda district, were fatally struck during a thunderstorm on Sunday.

'Sahu and Pradhan were selling toys and sought shelter under a tree in Pattapur. Both were found unconscious and were pronounced dead upon arrival at Digapahandi hospital,' stated Ajay Kumar Swain, the inspector in charge of Pattapur police station.

Another victim, Lambodar Panigrahy, was struck by lightning while in Badagarh and was declared dead at the local hospital, confirmed inspector Sandhyarani Singh of Badagarh police station.

Similarly, lightning hit Sanjay Gouda close to his village, and despite being rushed to Hinjili sub-divisional hospital, he was declared dead on arrival, reported Srinibash Sethi, the inspector in charge of Hinjili police station.
