Six people, including three from one family, were tragically killed as torrential rains hit Uttarakhand, causing house collapses and widespread flooding, state officials reported on Thursday. The heavy rains have resulted in the rise of water levels in various rivers across the state, leaving several areas submerged and many residents in distress.
In Chamoli district's Devchauli, a woman and child have been missing since Wednesday evening after their house collapsed. A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team has been dispatched to the scene to aid in the search and rescue operation, authorities revealed.
Meanwhile, Haridwar's Kharkhari area experienced a deluge as nearly a dozen vehicles parked along the Sukhi river were washed away. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and SDRF teams have been diligently working in the affected zones to provide assistance. Disaster Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman disclosed that around 200 passengers stranded on the Kedarnath route have been relocated to safer locations.
