Incessant rains in Bengaluru over the past two days have severely disrupted daily life, leading to widespread waterlogging in low-lying areas and roads.
In response to the heavy downpour, Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner Jagadish G announced the closure of schools and Anganwadi centres on Monday, marking the second such closure within a week.
Residents struggled through inundated streets, as fallen trees further hampered vehicle movement. The Indian Meteorology Department issued an orange alert for Bengaluru, signaling very heavy rainfall levels between 11 cm to 20 cm. A bulletin warned of moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms in Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts.
