The depression, which intensified from a low-pressure area, is currently centered 730 km southeast of Paradip, Odisha, and is expected to move west-northwest. It could evolve into a cyclonic storm by October 23, 2024. Coastal regions such as Odisha and West Bengal are on alert for potential heavy rains and high winds.
Odisha authorities have canceled staff leave from October 23 to 25 to tackle the challenges posed by the cyclone. The Special Relief Commissioner, DK Singh, has instructed departments to prepare for the impact of this weather phenomenon, which may reach wind speeds up to 120 kmph.
