Rajasthan is taking significant steps to address the decline of its rivers on the brink of extinction. Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat informed the Assembly of ongoing efforts to restore the Bhadravati river in Karauli district, crucial to the state's water conservation strategy.
During the Wednesday session, Rawat elaborated on the government's plans, as detailed un the 2024-25 Budget, to secure a detailed project report (DPR) for the revival of Ruparel, Sabi, and Jojri rivers. These initiatives aim to redirect surplus water from the Jakham Dam to key reservoirs, ensuring water availability across affected districts of Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, and Bhilwara.
Under India's National River Conservation Project, four projects targeting the Jojri river's pollution issue have been approved. Implemented by the Jodhpur Development Authority and Municipal Corporation, these projects will include afforestation and pollution prevention strategies within a comprehensive river basin approach.
