A fire erupted on Thursday evening at the Annapurana Girls Hostel in Greater Noida after an air conditioner's compressor exploded, injuring one girl. The blaze caused panic among students as smoke quickly permeated the building.

Pradeep Kumar, Noida's chief fire officer, stated that the injured girl is receiving treatment at a hospital and is recovering. The fire department responded swiftly upon being notified, successfully containing the fire.

Footage circulating online captures the daring rescue attempt, where two girls are seen trying to exit from a balcony. Local residents aided by placing a ladder, though one girl lost her balance, falling and sustaining injuries. The incident underscores the need for enhanced safety measures in hostels.
