In a bid to bolster disaster preparedness, Gurugram held a thorough mock drill on Friday under the name 'Exercise Suraksha Chakra'. The exercise simulated two disaster scenarios: an earthquake and a chemical leak, allowing agencies to practice swift and coordinated responses.

The comprehensive drill, commencing at 9 am, unfolded at various critical locations including the Government Senior Secondary School and an Indian Oil facility in Bhondsi. Simulations included evacuating citizens and overcoming communication hurdles, highlighting the importance of readiness.

Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar, overseeing the drill from the control room, emphasized the exercise's dual objective of assessing resource availability and department coordination under realistic conditions, aiming to highlight and rectify potential vulnerabilities before a real disaster happens.
