The Maharashtra cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has greenlit a transformative urban development policy for concept-based iconic city creation. This initiative prioritizes optimal land utilization under CIDCO and related authorities, facilitating integrated township-style projects through a tender process. Authorities and developers can now spearhead urban revitalization efforts with enhanced collaboration.
Additionally, a comprehensive redevelopment plan for dilapidated MHADA colonies has been sanctioned. Targeting buildings erected from 1950-1960 across Mumbai and its suburbs, the policy aims to offer modern amenities and sustainable infrastructure. This initiative seeks to enhance living conditions for Middle-Income and Low-Income Group families without requiring occupant consent.
The policy envisions new housing units equipped with modern facilities like lifts and parking, alongside upgraded infrastructure for water supply, sewage, and electricity. Monitoring of the redevelopment process will be overseen by a high-powered committee led by the Additional Chief Secretary (Housing), ensuring the effective execution of these ambitious projects.
