A significant fire broke out at a clothing store in Gorakhpur's busy Golghar market on Monday afternoon, causing widespread panic among shoppers and traders. The blaze, fueled by flammable garments, quickly spread but was fortunately controlled within 90 minutes, according to officials.
Authorities deployed eight fire tenders to extinguish the flames, while police and senior officials were present to manage crowd control and traffic. The incident attracted a large number of onlookers, leading to a traffic standstill in the area. Circle Officer of Cantt, Yogendra Singh, used loudspeakers to urge people to clear the way for emergency vehicles.
District Magistrate Deepak Meena confirmed that a short circuit was the cause of the fire, and praised the swift action that prevented further devastation in the congested market area. The site was later inspected by top officials, including the Divisional Commissioner and MLA Vipin Singh, as they evaluated damage and began cleanup efforts.
