Tragedy Strikes in Chhattisgarh: Elephant Attack Claims Life
A 60-year-old woman named Phoolsundari Manjhawar was killed in an elephant attack in Chhattisgarh's Korba district. The attack happened in the early morning when the woman woke up to an elephant's call. Efforts are underway by the forest department to manage the aggressive elephant population.

A 60-year-old resident of Chhattisgarh's Korba district, Phoolsundari Manjhawar, lost her life to a tragic elephant attack. According to forest officials, the incident occurred in the early hours when the victim awoke to an elephant's calls and was fatally trampled while her husband hid under their bed to escape.
Upon being informed, forest personnel arrived promptly at the scene and arranged for the transfer of the victim's body for post-mortem examination. An initial compensation amount of Rs 25,000 has been issued to the deceased's family, with further financial support pending completion of the protocol.
The forest department is monitoring the situation closely as the aggressive elephant has migrated to the Katghora forest division from the Sipat range. Despite warnings and safety advisories from officials, the local community has shown negligence, resulting in further human-elephant conflicts in Chhattisgarh, which have claimed many lives over recent years.
