A real estate firm director was taken into custody Tuesday in connection with the tragic death of a 27-year-old software engineer in Noida, according to police reports. The incident, involving Yuvraj Mehta's fatal plunge into a water-filled construction pit, has triggered a probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The team, led by Additional Director General Bhanu Bhaskar, will examine the roles of local authorities and developers in the fatal mishap. This follows the victim's father's claims of negligence and demand for accountability. The SIT has been tasked to submit its report within five days.
The case has intensified public discourse on urban infrastructure failures, with prominent politicians like Rahul Gandhi pointing to systemic accountability issues. The Uttar Pradesh government has already responded by removing a senior Noida Authority officer amid intensified scrutiny.
