Jammu and Kashmir is poised for significant environmental advancements as Forest Minister Javed Rana disclosed new initiatives for the upcoming fiscal year focused on forest conservation, biodiversity protection, and eco-tourism.
Addressing the Assembly, Minister Rana announced the planting of one crore saplings with community involvement as part of a broad strategy to strengthen ecological efforts. This will include forest area surveys, the introduction of new trek routes and eco-huts, and promoting eco-tourism with local participation.
Rana emphasized ongoing wetland conservation with the mapping of 260 wetlands using advanced technologies. Notably, the revival of Wular Lake has aided over 5,200 fishermen. Additional highlights include wildlife conservation success stories, air quality improvements in major cities, and increased fiscal allocation for sustained development and conservation activities.
