Cheetah in Rajasthan's Ranthambore tranquilised, sent back to Madhya Pradesh

A cheetah roaming in a forest range in Rajasthans Ranthambore Tiger Reserve was tranquilised on Friday and sent back to Madhya Pradesh, forest officials said. The operation was carried out jointly by a team from Kuno National Park, Rajasthan Forest Department officials and wildlife experts following prescribed safety protocols.

A cheetah roaming in a forest range in Rajasthan's Ranthambore Tiger Reserve was tranquilised on Friday and sent back to Madhya Pradesh, forest officials said. The operation was carried out jointly by a team from Kuno National Park, Rajasthan Forest Department officials and wildlife experts following prescribed safety protocols. According to the Forest Department, the cheetah's movement had been under continuous surveillance for the past several days. After monitoring its location and movement pattern, experts decided to tranquilise the animal. Deputy Conservator of Forest and Deputy Field Director (Ranthambore) Manas Singh said the operation was completed safely under the supervision of experienced wildlife veterinarians and technical experts. Special care was taken to ensure that the cheetah did not suffer stress or injury during the procedure, he said.
