Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant Faces Another Power Outage
The International Atomic Energy Agency reports that the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine lost all external power after an overnight attack on an electrical substation. This marks the 19th outage since Russia began its war in Ukraine in 2022.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on Thursday that Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is facing a severe disruption. A recent attack on an electrical substation has led to a complete loss of off-site power.
Located in the southeastern part of Ukraine, the plant has been severely affected by ongoing military actions. This incident marks the 19th power outage at the facility since the onset of the conflict initiated by Russia in 2022.
The recurrent interruptions pose significant concerns for nuclear safety and highlight the vulnerabilities faced by energy infrastructures in conflict zones.
