India Thrashes Zimbabwe by 10 Wickets to Secure Series Win

Zimbabwe's skipper Sikandar Raza attributes his team's 10-wicket loss to India in the fourth T20I to pitch conditions, impacted by the use of a roller. Despite a fighting total, India's openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill comfortably chased down the target, clinching the series 3-1.

Following his side's 10-wicket defeat to India, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza claimed that the use of a roller during the mid-inning break improved the pitch conditions for the 'Men in Blue'. Raza suggested that even a total of 180 runs wouldn't have sufficed against the powerful opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill.

Fine half-centuries from Jaiswal and Gill enabled India to secure a series win over Zimbabwe with a commanding 10-wicket victory in the fourth T20I of the five-match series held at Harare on Saturday.

During the post-match presentation, Raza stated, "I think the wicket was a bit damp, and we thought 160 was par. But with the way they batted, even 180 would not have been enough. We keep growing and learning from each game. I think eight-ten runs more in the last 5 overs."

He further added, "The heavy roller in the innings break did the trick for them. It became a beautiful wicket, and they could play on the up. There is a game tomorrow, and even if we lose 3-2 then we can keep our head high."

In the match, India won the toss and put Zimbabwe to bat first. A solid 63-run opening stand between Wessly Madhevere (25 from 24 balls) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (32 from 31 balls) gave Zimbabwe a decent start. Subsequently, Indian bowlers took wickets at regular intervals, with Raza contributing a steady 46-run innings from 28 balls. Zimbabwe posted 152/7 in their 20 overs, with Indian bowler Khaleel Ahmed taking 2/32.

During India's run chase, openers Jaiswal (93* from 53 balls) and skipper Gill (58* from 39 balls) led their team to a comprehensive win with 28 balls remaining. With this triumph, India has taken an unassailable 3-1 series lead over Zimbabwe, with one game left to play.

Jaiswal was named 'Player of the Match' for his outstanding performance. (ANI)
