Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday lauded wrestler Aman Sehrawat for his commendable achievement of winning the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, describing his life as an inspiration to others.

During a phone call to congratulate the 21-year-old athlete, Modi highlighted that Sehrawat was the youngest among the Indian medal winners in these Olympic Games. He commended Sehrawat's dedication and said his feat will bring joy to the country for a long time.

'Your life is inspirational for the people of the country,' the prime minister said, noting that Sehrawat had lost his parents at a young age and dedicated himself to wrestling.

Sehrawat expressed his gratitude to the prime minister for the support and facilities provided to him, and voiced his confidence in winning a gold medal at the next Olympics.

Sehrawat secured the bronze by defeating Puerto Rico's Darian Cruz in the men's 57 kg freestyle category at the Paris Olympics on Friday. The U-23 world champion was the lone Indian male wrestler to qualify for the Paris Games and triumphed with a 13-5 win in the bronze play-off.
