Australian Test captain Pat Cummins is set to make his comeback from an ankle injury through the Indian Premier League. Cummins is optimistic about regaining full fitness ahead of the World Test Championship final against South Africa at Lord's on June 11.
The fast bowler, who last led Australia to a historic Border-Gavaskar Trophy victory, faced complications during his final test against India and subsequently missed the Sri Lanka series and the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. His time off coincided with the birth of his daughter Edi.
Cummins has begun running and plans to resume playing with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL starting March 22. He views the T20 tournament as a precursor to his international duties in the Test Championship and a Caribbean series extending into July. Cummins has been diligently rehabilitating and is hopeful for a successful return.
