Defending champion Iga Swiatek displayed dominance as she crushed Dayana Yastremska 6-0, 6-2 to advance to the fourth round of Indian Wells on Sunday. Meanwhile, 2023 champion Elena Rybakina also showcased her prowess, defeating Britain's Katie Boulter 6-0, 7-5. Swiatek, the second seed, aims to become the first woman to clinch the tournament title three times. Demonstrating remarkable efficiency, she reeled off 10 games in a row, using only 65 minutes to dispatch her Ukrainian opponent.
Swiatek expressed satisfaction with her performance, stating, "I had control from the beginning, so I'm happy with the performance for sure." On the men's side, Stefanos Tsitsipas exhibited his exceptional athleticism and defense by defeating Italy's Matteo Berrettini 6-3, 6-3. With determination, Tsitsipas approaches each match fiercely, likening himself to a gladiator on the court.
Daniil Medvedev also advanced, as American opponent Alex Michelson retired due to illness after just two games. Medvedev, a consistent finalist facing Carlos Alcaraz in previous years, will next battle popular American Tommy Paul.
